Star Writers!

As you know we have some truly amazing writers in room 9.  Two of the children's pieces of writing were entered into a NZRA Writing competition.  There were over 70 pieces of writing sent in across the different primary levels and Amelie and Julia came 1st and runner up respectfully for the Year 3 section.

This is a great achievement and all of us in Room 9 are very proud of you both!

My Adventure In Ross Creek

As we stepped past the sign, a cold chill went down my spine like waves crashing against the shore. The trees were twisty and crooked. I hoped I woudn’t fall off the egde of the track. It was like a haunted forest, but there were just no ghosts. I could smell a soily, musty smell among the trees, as if someone had stinky feet in a strong scent, Eeewww! The branches that hung over us were chipped like the ragged old clothes of a pirate. The stream made trikling noises. It was whooshing and whirling, twisting and twirling. The mushrooms were like fairy houses. And then I knew, that was an adventure I would never forget.

Ross Creek

Whoosh…whoosh, the sound of rushing water made me leap with excitement. “This is an Adventure,” I thought. I heard beautiful voices of sweet little bellbirds. The gentle air felt like a slow sloth brushing against me. I smell the horrible stench of damp, dirty muck of rotting wood. Quite a we way in to our walk at Ross Creek I saw a streak of sun light glistening through the great big grandfather trees. In Ross Creek there’s an ice-cold stream of rushing water. Deep down it get’s extra ice-burgy but I was still as hot as the sun! Most of the leaves were a deep green but some other leaves were scattered over the ground in all different shapes and sizes with pretty colours. As I walked out of the beautiful forest I felt my foot swelling up, it must have been when I stepped over the stepping stones but I didn’t care because I had the time of my life!
