Amazing 3D Insects!

We now have our wonderful 3D insects up in our classroom and they are looking fabulous!!

This is how we created them:

We first had to create the shape of the bodies using newspaper and ALOT of masking tape!
Next we put two layers of paper-mache all over the body to help hold the shape.
Once the paper-mache was dry we were able to attach the legs by using straws with wire in them.  The wire helped to hold the shape of the legs.  We needed to add on another layer of paper-mache around the legs to make them strong.
Finally once it was all dry we could PAINT!
We looked carefully at photographs to ensure our colours were as real as possible.
We added on the wings and antennae and this is what we created!
